Karim Mashnuk joined Beringer Capital in 2023. In his role as Principal, Karim is responsible for leading Beringer’s efforts in optimizing debt structures, originating strategic transactions and leading deal execution. Karim brings with him a decade of experience in private capital investing, debt structuring and leveraged buyouts.

Prior to joining Beringer, Karim was a Director at SVB, responsible for the evaluation and execution of debt opportunities across the Canadian technology space. At SVB, Karim covered primarily late-stage and mezzanine debt opportunities across a variety of industry verticals which included enterprise software, consumer internet, financial technology and climate technology. Karim was instrumental in supporting the sale of the assets of the Canadian branch of SVB.

Before working at SVB, Karim was a vice president with RBC Capital Partners, where he led origination, structuring, execution and management of transactions for RBC’s mezzanine debt fund, providing subordinated debt to support sponsor-backed leveraged buyouts across the US and Canada. Earlier, he was an associate at BerQ Capital Inc., a venture capital firm focused on early-stage cleantech. While there, he was responsible for the evaluation and development of investment opportunities, focused primarily on renewable natural gas.

 

Karim earned an MBA and honors bachelor's degree in business from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. Outside of the office, Karim enjoys playing soccer, cooking, travelling, and has a keen interest in learning about wine.
