Perry Miele
Perry Miele is Chairman and partner of Beringer Capital, with over 25 years of experience building and growing companies in North America and Internationally.
Since 2003, Perry has been a principal of Beringer Capital, a fund investing in emerging marketing services companies. As Chairman, he is responsible for investing activities, strategic development, and oversight of Beringer’s portfolio companies.
Perry was chairman of Budco, headquartered out of Detroit, Michigan with major offices in New Jersey and California. Budco was one of the largest fulfillment and distribution companies in the U.S. serving top Fortune 500 companies with a specialized focus in the automotive industry. Budco was sold in 2011 to the Michigan Pension Fund.
Perry began his career with the Canadian Federal Government in 1984, rising to the position of Chief of Staff to the Minister of International Trade during the NAFTA negotiations. In 1987, Perry became a partner of the Gingko Group, an integrated marketing services company located in Toronto. At Gingko, Perry grew the company to become one of the largest independent agencies in Canada. In 1998, Gingko merged with DraftWorldwide (a subsidiary of Interpublic Group) and in 1999 Perry joined the management team of DraftWorldwide as the President of the International Group. In that position, Perry was responsible for 36 offices operating in 24 countries and led the international expansion with a combination of strategic acquisitions and organic growth.
Perry is a director of Andrew Peller Wines, a TSX listed company and is currently on the Board of the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation and on the board of Trillium Health Partners. Perry was a member of the Young Presidents Organization for over 10 years and became Chairman of the Ontario Chapter. Perry also served on board of the LCBO during 2002-2005, a period of which the LCBO grew and transitioned to become one of the top alcohol retailers in the world.
Perry is also an avid fisherman and an aspiring writer with articles published in Real Fishing Magazine.
Bill Kostenko
Bill Kostenko, Managing Partner has more than 25 years of experience and is a recognized expert in advising and managing marketing and communications firms. Since 1990, he has helped clients implement transactions involving divestment, acquisition and financing solutions. He has also been involved in numerous crisis situations in a leadership role.
From 1986 to 1990, Bill was the Chief Financial Officer and a significant shareholder in Sherwood, a holding company with 14 operating subsidiaries in the communications industry. Bill negotiated the divestment and sale of several subsidiaries of Sherwood during the late 1980's.
Prior to Sherwood, Bill held senior financial management positions with a number of manufacturing and technology based companies including Genesis Microchip, Mitel, Rolm Canada and Rockwell International.
Bill serves on several private and public company boards. He has an M.B.A. in finance from McMaster University as well as a B.A. in Economics.
Lu Cacioppo CPA, FCPA
Lu Cacioppo brings over 35 years’ experience in helping entrepreneurs to unlock value through expansion, acquisition, divestiture, refinancing and strategic planning. His unparalleled insights into the unique issues facing company founders—particularly at the intersection of corporate and family ownership—have made him a trusted advisor to many of Canada’s most noteworthy private companies. He has also lent his expertise in corporate and personal taxation, mergers and acquisitions, and transaction due diligence to a broad cross-section of global clients spanning diverse industries.
Before joining Beringer, Lu spent a decade at Deloitte, where he was National Managing Partner of the firm's SME program, and also served as the leader of Deloitte Private practice in the Ontario region. Prior to Deloitte, Lu was a managing partner of business consulting and accountancy firm HORNE LLP.
Lu is highly active and engaged in the Ontario community, having served as a board member for the St Joseph’s Health Systems, Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, and Villa Italia Retirement Home. He also previously volunteered his expertise as an advisor to the board of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools, as president of the Sons of Italy Trieste Lodge, and as audit chair for the Sons of Italy Housing Corporation.
In 2015, Lu received the Professional Excellence Award from CIBPA (Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association). In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Fellow of Professional Chartered Accountants (FCPA) designation in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the accountancy profession and broader community.
Lu is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
Gil Ozir
Gil Ozir is a Managing Partner of Beringer Capital and leads the firm’s New York office. As a member of the Investment Committee, he is responsible for investing activities, strategic development and oversight of Beringer’s portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Beringer, Gil was a Managing Director at AMR International, a leading boutique consultancy focused on strategy and M&A in the media, information and technology sectors. At AMR, Gil ran the North America practice and led numerous commercial due diligence engagements on behalf of both corporate and private equity investors.
Before working at AMR, Gil was Executive Vice President of a private family office in New York, where he was the strategic advisor to the CEO. Gil began his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he was a manager in the private equity practice and specialized in consumer packaged goods and media.
Gil holds a JD from New York University School of Law and graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in history.
David Saunders
David Saunders joined Beringer Capital in 2012. He provides due diligence and deal support to the Principals as well as financial and operational guidance to portfolio companies. David is also engaged in consulting projects where Beringer provides financial advisory services.
Prior to Joining Beringer Capital, David worked at RBC Dominion Securities, providing analysis on asset allocation and investment selection decisions for an actively managed portfolio. David was responsible for monitoring financial and economic news flow in order to generate new investment ideas, as well as preparing macro-economic research reports, and maintaining quantitative screening models for stocks and mutual funds.
David has an HBA degree from The Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with distinction.
John Panousopoulos
John Panousopoulos joined the Beringer Capital team in early 2019. He provides due diligence and deal support to the Principals as well as financial and operational guidance to the portfolio companies. John brings twenty years of financial, operational and risk management experience in numerous industries.
Prior to joining Beringer Capital, John was the Corporate Controller at Match Marketing Corporation, a former Fund II portfolio company, where he was responsible for the review and consolidation of financial results, advised local finance teams on accounting and operational matters, managed special projects and assisted Beringer Capital with due diligence and other sale processes. Prior to Match Marketing, John was the CFO at Olbert Metal Sales Limited, a privately-owned metals distribution company with operations in the US and Canada, where he directed all aspects of the finance, technology and HR functions. He has also worked in Ernst & Young LLP’s risk advisory services group, advising clients in various industries on enterprise risk management; and was the Manager, Corporate Accounting at a financial services company. John began his career as an auditor at KPMG LLP.
John has a BComm from the University of Toronto and is a CPA (Ontario).
John is an avid traveler having visited over 40 countries, and is a sports junkie.
